Momentous Merger of Ministry & Talent
Palmetto State Quartet, one of the most recognizable
names in Southern Gospel music has made dramatic changes
to the group. Kerry Beatty, PSQ’s highly respected and
talented lead singer for over 10 years is joining forces
with key members of The Classic Sound Quartet Larry Strickland, (bass), Brian Beatty, (baritone/lead) and
Jeremy
Calloway, (tenor) to usher in a new era for PSQ.
Kerry, stated, “I am thrilled with this merger and the
renewed commitment to the ministry and the great
heritage of the Palmetto State Quartet that it brings”.
Brian Beatty, Kerry’s younger brother, who has been
anchoring Classic Sound Quartet with his powerful lead
vocal will now, for the first time, stand side by side
with his brother to add to the great tradition of PSQ as
well as their family’s legacy in Southern Gospel music.
“We see this as a great opportunity to raise the
platform of PSQ’s ministry and perhaps add to the legacy
of great quartet music”, says Larry Strickland, bass
singer. Larry, who is the husband and personal manager
of Naomi Judd, is well known as the bass singer for J.D.
Sumner and The Stamps Quartet (yes they had two bass
singers) in their Elvis Presley heyday.
Larry Strickland will provide oversight and vision
through his management responsibilities for PSQ. He has
a wealth of knowledge and experience from the many years
in the music industry working with The Judds and many
other popular artist. He hopes to use his experience and
relationships to introduce some exciting new marketing
and promotion strategies to not only PSQ but to Southern
Gospel music in general. “It’s some of the best music in
the world and it deserves to be exposed to a much
broader audience,” says Larry. Most importantly, Larry
brings his beautiful bass voice back into Gospel music.
The New Palmetto State Quartet will continue to be
represented by the Beckie Simmons Agency. |
